Wood Academy’s Basic Metal Working class is designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required for metalworking projects. The course focuses on practical application, culminating in the creation of a Counter Riser using flux-cored MIG welding.

Course Highlights:

Welding Method:

  • Learn and master the flux-cored MIG welding technique, a versatile and widely used method in metalworking.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Grinder: Understand the use and safety protocols for grinding metal surfaces.
  • Cutoff Machine: Learn to make precise cuts on metal pieces.
  • Stone Grinder: Gain proficiency in shaping and finishing metal workpieces.

Practical Application:

  1. Introduction to Metal Working:
    • Familiarize yourself with the basic concepts of metalworking, including safety guidelines and workshop best practices.
  2. Hands-on Training with Tools:
    • Receive comprehensive training on using each tool effectively and safely. Practice cutting, grinding, shaping, and finishing metal pieces.
  3. Flux-Cored MIG Welding:
    • Detailed instruction on setting up and operating a flux-cored MIG welder.
    • Practice welding techniques to ensure strong, clean welds.
  4. Project Work – Counter Riser:
    • Apply your skills to design, fabricate, and assemble a Counter Riser.
    • Step-by-step guidance through the entire project, from planning and measuring to cutting, welding, and finishing.
    • Learn troubleshooting techniques to handle common issues during fabrication.
